Three Wheeled Buggies

New figures show that three-wheeled buggies that were the symbol of the decade that were more expensive than common sense, are in steep decline. Four-wheelers are replacing them, and are more flexible and simple to drive and look elegant.
The general principle is that the larger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with bumpy and rough pavements. The larger wheels on both the front and back also makes it easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy on an infant and a toddler and found it extremely durable. It handled cobbles, grass and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. She said that it felt sturdy to push, and very stable on difficult terrain. Its tyres, which are inflatable and need to be pumped regularly and have a suspension built-in. This was extremely comfortable for my kids.
The shape and size of the seat is another thing to think about. You'll want it to be large enough to accommodate your child's comfort and you will also want it to be able to recline to allow them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies offer a lie-flat option that allows the child to face you, while others only permit a parent-facing option.
An excellent option for taking on off-road or muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. It can be used as a single unit from birth, and then expands to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for babies and toddlers until age 4 and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, an improved 5-point harness and large cushioned seat unit. Storage options are also good with a large basket with zip pockets on the hood and a handy pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels mean that your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - ideal for off-road buggies. They also allow you to navigate the pushchair through tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies feature swivel front wheels to assist you in maneuvering around tight corners, whereas others are specifically designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability with the speed at which they can be pushed. This can also help if you bump into the roots of a tree or stray road, as the front wheel can be lifted up to keep you from hitting it.
A majority of 3 wheel pushchairs come with air-filled tyres, which means they can be used on different terrains and are far more flexible than 4-wheeler. They also tend to be lighter. They are also more susceptible to punctures, so you'll require a repair kit and spare inner tube in your arsenal.

Buggies with larger wheels may be quite wide, and can be difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is an issue when you're using it for a jogger or to maneuver through doors that are narrow when out and out and about. Many models have compact folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.
Easy to Manoeuvre
A three-wheel buggy can be more comfortable to drive with children. They are designed to ensure that the front wheels can be turned on a dime and are easy to navigate, making them ideal for difficult terrain like parks, cobblestones as well as bumpy roads and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her toddler. she said: "The Terrain is a joy to maneuver in rough terrain. The swivel wheel front was particularly helpful." I was also impressed with the way it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. It was extremely stable when going downhill or on a rough terrain."
The only downside to this amazing maneuverability is that the larger wheels of the 3 wheel buggy can sometimes make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you need to be aware of when your home is a city. If this is an issue then a 4-wheeler might be a better option for you.
